Leaf Day - Pop and pour after standing upright on the counter for two days - may have some sediment but I only poured a glass for (hopefully) enjoyment and education. Dark garnet (opaque) core extending out to a narrow light garnet edge. Nose of damp earth, savoury herbs (almost garrigue-like), rich and ripe dark fruit, and with just a touch of 70% dark chocolate. Very smooth and velvety on the palate with dark fruit caressing the mouth. This is rich and full bodied with wonderful ripe fruit, milk chocolate, ripe tannins and bright acidity showing. Not really showing much in development at all. Savoury, spicy (white pepper?) and warm on the finish (13.5% ABV stated on the label). This is really youthful and I would have said it was a 2015 or so vintage tasting it blind. Virtually no tertiary notes except for the beautiful herbal and chocolate finish. Stunning and easily can last another 5 years. Will it improve? Probably not, but it’s not often I wish I had more bottles of something - this is one of them. This cost $20 in a wine store in Montana in 2007. Will definitely decant this wine - there’s a bit of fairly large grains of sediment in my initial glass.

- Purple color with slow forming legs and aromas of cloves, blackberry and oak. It's balanced and has flavours of oak, prune, black currant and black pepper with a full body. Polished texture with a long finish - Give this a couple hours to open up and you will be rewarded with a beautiful, well-balanced, polished wine. Not the best but considering the price, the value is excellent. Remember, let it breathe. Oh, by the way, probably time to drink up but a couple more years in a good cellared environment won't hurt it.

A ripe Petite Sirah from California that displays it's common characteristics. Heavy aromas of dried plums and raisens on the nose that carry right to the palate. Upfront there is also quite a bit of blueberry and holiday spice carried on a medium to large frame. Somewhat hot on the finish with some pretty dry tannins. If you like PS I would recommend.

Deep garnet color. Flavor profile is blueberry and blackberry pie. Drying tannins on the finish but not as much as I'd come to expect from petite sirah. A bit hot on the finish. A fruit-forward, consumer-friendly wine at a very attractive price point. Suitable both as a cocktail wine and with hearty meats.

Decant for 1 hr: Very dark garnet + purple color. Aromas of dark, stewed fruit and grape jam. Flavors of dark, stewed fruit as well. Significant tannins, spices and alcohol especially on the finish. It's not a bad wine, just not my cup of tea. Good value though if you like this style of PS.

I bought this on its 90 point score and because I love PS. I was disappointed. Closed nose, hot, and extreme green tannins. Good mouthfeel but so tannic that I didn't enjoy it much. Nice cherries and some soil aspects. 84 points.
From notes: Decanted 2 hours. Heat has largely dissapated and tannins are less noticable. Cherries coming through much more obviously and it seems better balanced. 87-88 points.

This is my first petite syrah experience and I am quiet happy with it. Dark ink color, cherries everywhere, dry tannins and good acidity. The wine was definitely better the 2nd and 3rd night as it settled down. Food friendly - had with lamb, chicken and pasta over the three days and it paired up nicely with each of them. Not very complex and a bit one dimensional, but tasty and pleasant. Good table wine.

I do not have a very deep history with Petite Sirah, but my impression was very good. This wine had a very fruit forward nose and was very light and smooth on my palate with consistent flavors from the nose. A very delicate wine, that I enjoyed very much and at $10 a bottle a great BBQ or party wine with friends.

Very solid bottle of wine, especially at the price point. Decanted for 30 mins prior to drinking, refrigerated for same. Just a very well-structured bottle. Long finish for the price. Not a big, huge full-bodied PS, but closer to medium-full, if not medium. A blend of acidic red fruits on the nose and palate (black cherries, burnt cranberries, red and black currant).
A perfect balance to my brisket-burgers.
I am actually going to try to age at least one bottle of this wine. Wish me luck!

This is proficient as a wine but more notable for its lack of flaws than anything really great. None of the density or mouthfeel you think of with a upper level PS. That said its not a horrible deal for the price. I'd be more apt to guess Syrah though. Wine is very tannic and either Im too used to overripe CA PS or this wine just seems a little underripe, yet not quite green. 13.5%...would make a good BBQ wine.

(Actually 89.5, but I can't do decimals) Great round mouthfeel! I actually had this after a long car ride down from Jersey, so I placed the bottle in an icewater bath and it actually got COOLER as I drank it. At room temperature, the tannins aren't there, so it's overwhelmingly (but not in a bad way!) fruity! Cherry is the overwhelming fruit involved in the aromas and flavors. Also hints of cranberry and blueberry, which returned to more balanced flavors as it cooled down. They were no longer "sweet cherries" but not quite sour cherries either -- almost like Granny Smith Cherries, the perfect combination of sweet and tart, which is probably why I also had the cranberry notes. As it chilled, the tannins came out, helping to balance the wine and turn it away from something that's just fruit into a stronger wine with more structure and flavor profile. Serve this one a few degrees cooler than you might think if you want the tannins like I do.
This wine is AN ABSOLUTE STEAL for $11. Wonderful QPR, so I am ordering a case right now (or as soon as I finish writing this). I suggest you do the same before it's all gone. Gary Vaynerchuk was not kidding when he called this THE entry-level Petite.

Tasting from 2nd day (left on counter corked overnight). Rhubarb and leather aromas. Dense thicket of dark fruit. Tastes like you're drinking the color black with a sprinkling of floral flavors. Healthy chunk of tannins. Enjoyable...particularly for the price.

Popped and poured. Very dark purple color. Blueberry and currant on the nose. On first taste, this was very simple and extremely grapey tasting - like welch's grape juice. 20-30 minutes in, grapey flavor subsidess somewhat, but still fuity. Firm tannins emerge on a short to medium finish. Seemed to gain some complexity with time. Saved 2/3 bottle for tomorrow, will see if it improves at all.

The cork is natural and in good condition (relatively soft, supple, and expanded at the bottom), if slightly hard at the top. There is no foul smell on the cork. Nice deep, dark colour. This wine coats the glass swimmingly.
I am not experienced with Petite Sirah (this is, I believe, my first), but I like this wine. No time to decant. There is a tartness in the aroma (not unlike a red Bordeaux). The aroma has hints of blackberry and blackcurrant. The flavour is fruity, if I may say so. The flavour has hints of ripe black raspberry. The tannic acids are quite firm and assertive (my teeth hurt). At $12, the quality is good. This wine will pleasure you. Very good.

Great value wine. Needs to breath for awhile as the tannins were a bit strong at first, but boy did this wine open up after an hour or so. Dark red in color with great legs. Good berry flavor with (what I thought) a pleasing aftertaste. I'll definitely be buying this one again.

The perfect BBQ wine @ $10 - nice fruit forward palate with mouth coating tannins, a little heat on the finish. Not overly complex, but it doesn't need to be. When paired with food this wine really sings - I'll be buying a six-pack of this in preperation for BBQ season. Good stuff!

Decanting time: 2h, served @ ~60F. Color... wow. Blood-red with a shot of India ink with legs that threatened to permanently stain the glass. Nose showed strawberry, blueberry, plum and with an oaky after effect. Mouthfeel was definitely very tannic without being TOO overpowering. Gothic, surprisingly jammy flavors of dark-chocolate covered cherries. The alcohol content was a bit noticable, but not offensive.

Popped and poured. Ripe dark fruits on the rose with some vanilla. Kirsch and ripe blackberry pie with some unresolved dry tannins on the palate. Maybe a touch of bittersweet chocolate. Chewy, but too tannic for some. A pleasant drink, but lacks interest.

The nose is fruity , berry, cassis, currant, but I thought it was to hot even though it is only 13.5 %. The color is dark purple going to brown. You can taste fruit and berries, but I feel that this wine is not balanced with the alcohol taste. It does not have a long finish.

Inky purple, medium viscosity. Plummy, jammy, chocolate (? -- maybe so), no tannins to speak of, no heat to speak of. Rather middling, but very acceptable. Did not develop much in glass. If changes overnight, will re-evaluate.

Very good.

Nothing special. Strong tannins and nice cherry flavors, but not in balance, and a thinner mouthfeel.

Black cherry and raspberry nose, with hints of licorice. Nice plummy fruit taste. Good late hitting tannins, somewhat tight, tart finish.

Boysenberry and pencil on the nose. A fresh cran-currant flavor with tones of metal. Moderate finish. Very enjoyable. Moderate complexity. Great wine for the price.

Colour was a gorgeous dark purple, long legs. Some fruit and earthy tones on the nose. palate showed berry flavours, pleasant amount of tannin, felt a bit too much unsupported alcohol messed the finish up. Nice wine for the price though.

Deep purple color, very faint nose, pleasant flavors of blueberry and chocolate (??) that get a bit overpowered by tannins for a short, somewhat sour ending. Improved after 2+ hours, however. Pretty good for the price.

Tasted 2nd day. Grapey, roasted licorice nose. Pencil shavings, currant and tannins. Better the first day. Very nice for the price.

Color: Deep thick purple; Nose: Berries and spice; Palate: Medium to full bodied, balanced, well structured. Finish: Suprisingly smooth finish, and medium to long lasting. This is an enjoyable wine. I will definitely buy again at $11.

Delicious Petite Sirah. For $10, Id buy this by the case. Seamless, no heat on the finish - nice chocolate and dark berry flavors.
