Sunday, February 16, 2014 - Having seen the alcohol content of 15% - one, five - on the label before opening, I was expecting the worst. But already the color is a surprise: not the dark golden yellow of an overoaked and tired monster but a pale color, like a Chablis. Chablis was also the first thing that came to my mind when facing the nose, not a lot of fruit, a bit closed and dominated by plenty of minerality. But neither oak nor alcohol shows. On the palate this is obviously quite oily, you cannot hide these 15% entirely, but very dry and not sweet at all. Fairly long finish. An exceptionally good wine, on the palate it lacks perhaps a bit the expressiveness and complexity of a very good Burgundy white, but in style this a lovely wine if you like that region.
