Sunday, February 16, 2014 - Deep dark maroon color. Thick legs. Big, full nose showing mostly sweet berry fruit and a little warm earth. The initial palate is big and full bodied, it really coats the tongue and fills the mouth. Rich, ripe fruit emphasizing strawberries and cherries. The tannins are a little woody, there's some oak in the background but not too obtrusive. Long finish with some complexity. I'm not usually a fan of big bruiser wines, but despite the bigness of this bottle it's actually pretty well balanced. Nice.
