Saturday, March 1, 2014 - Hints of cherry and barn nose out of the bottle... Now decanting.... Heavy tannins are apparent in this very rich wine; lets see how she evolves over the next 2.5 hours... 3.5 hours later, things soften and the cherry comes out ahead of all flavors, sweetly concentrated and silky wine. Very characteristic of other 2000s (Les Forts Latour, Carraudes Lafite), solid 90 points. Cork was 4/5 soaked, and in my humble opinion, people should consider drinking up soon. Honestly don't see how this will improve much, at the end of the day, it's a second wine not the Gran Vin... Just below the 1996 in terms of quality, but those bottles are probably long in the tooth now, had them in 2004-5. Just close to that wine's power. Better than the 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2004.
