Thursday, June 28, 2007 - 3 of 7: Deep ruby garnet in color with slight rosy edges and a lean silky viscosity, this Burgundy impressed with the intensity of fruit impeccably balanced with the symmetry of subtly nuanced secondary characters. A bouquet of powerful black cherry, smoke, and sweet dry rose petals slowly revealed itself in delicate layers. On the palate, powerful blackberry, red currants, and cassis seemed to unfold with elegant length and a quiet, but masculine restraint. Framing the fruit was paralleled acidity, harmonious leather notes, damp forest, black pepper, dry lavender petals, and a soft fine grain tannin that held a powerful, but easy grip. The wine finishes focused and concentrated with a distinct smoky mineral quality. Wow… and yet still in it’s infancy.
