Friday, July 20, 2007 - Even though this wine was fermented and aged in two- to three- year old French oak, it still comes across as a bit overoaked to me. The presence of oak seems to dull the otherwise nice aromas of vanilla custard and canned peaches. The palate matches the nose in this very weighty wine, and finishes with a refreshing hint of lemon. But overall, a bit too ripe for what I like to see in viognier and a bit too much heat. In the end, it comes across as a decent but amateurish effort.
