Thursday, February 19, 2004 - Tasted at the "Around the World" tasting at my house. David nailed this wine blind as a Mosel, but he thought it was a spatlese rather than auslese. It's definitely on the light side for an auslese, but I found it to be complex and very nice. Bright straw color. Complex nose with hints of both apple and lime. Similar flavors, as well as honey and a bit of brown sugar on the palate. Long, lingering finish. I really liked this wine. It's not an ager, but for the next ten years, this should be beautiful.
