Friday, October 24, 2014 - An adorable, vibrant and thrilling effort, the 2002 Comtes de Champagne delivers a true "best-of-the-best" experience tonight. The nose delivers a fully integrated almost velvety impression with rich fruit, tons of minerals, sweet brioche and white toast. A wonderful nose to say the least - so full of everything, yet so elegant and refined. The palate adds to the elegance and balance with close to perfect integration. Acidity and fruit are both there but they are kept on a short leash and none are allowed to speak up on behalf the other. With a length on the finish lasting some 55 seconds that just puts the "dot over the i", this is a marvellous wine which deserves all the merit it can get. It is certainly one of the greatest Champagnes I have ever tasted.
