Very interesting here, a little Rhys-like, even a bit of Rivers-Marie Thieriot....which for me means acid and some suave, tropical/green apple and mango inflected fruit yet with some lemon lurking there, waiting to see if it will step forward. Granted, I opened this up a short time ago so it's taking a chill now and will have a few hours of slow ox before I revisit.....so to run forward a day and with no food and a pre-lunch palate, figured I could dial in the wine and get a real good sense of it. Light chill, this is really quite beautiful today. It retains that thread of richness that I spoke to yesterday, maybe what would be a bit of light caramel, lots of yellow apple, lime skin and light brushing of green banana. What I find intriguing is the emergence of a distinct saline/mineral note in the base of the wine, which carries in and through the finish. It's this energy that buffers up on the fruit and creates a cool complete profile. And FWIW here, I am not sure of the oak treatment this sees but I'd say it provides that richness that pulls in the yellow apple, yet there is clearly no oak in the aromatic, no vanilla bean nor coconut. Really enjoy this bottle, and I would see this softening some and pulling together even more in the next couple of years.
