96 Points

Monday, March 2, 2015 - Yep, this is the real deal. Marc Estate Chards always seem to hew to the smoky, flinty side, but this one has fantastic balance. I'm not a big hazelnut guy, but the nose on this is just chock full of hazelnut, caramelized sugar, lemon curd and browned marshmallow. It's lovely. Not a hint of heat anywhere even though it's a very ripe wine. The mouth is opulent, rich, round and full of citrus. It is sweet with glycerin but fully dry and gratifying. I accessed this bottle three times prior in the last 4 months via my Coravin, so I think this proves you can at least get away with accessing up to 50 percent of a bottle over 4 month's time and not adversely affect the wine.

The finish is sublime and of the same character as the mouth of this wine. It's just a hint acidic, which makes it a good candidate for aging but actually costs it a point today.

Great juice.
