Friday, October 3, 2014 - 3110 and Friends: Another chance to try this wine of the greatest repute. Deeply coloured, fading only slightly around the very edges. A fantastic nose of cola, sweet raspberry, earth, white pepper and other spice as well as an intense licorice element. Over a couple of hours in the glass it seemed to take on even more earth aromas as well as bacon. Seemed to have more power and force than the last bottle I tried 6 years ago which given its age is surprising but inspiring in a way. The acidity is impressive as it keeps up with the powerful fruit and carries into a nicely long finish. Still a great Hunter Valley icon and it is easy to see why, even with both bottles showing differently but of almost equally high quality. A privileged to encounter this wine once more.
