Thursday, August 13, 2015 - The bottle has been well stored, high neck fill, beautiful cork. The nose is interesting, lots of tobacco over woodspice and incipient autumnal notes with hints of prune, asphalt and herb. In the mouth the texture is refined and elegant early on though the remaining wood dries out the palate and adds some bitterness that just dominates the bitter fruit that remains. There is no varietal character to speak of. Clean, modest finish. It is past peak, which is no surprise, but this never really did it for me.
