Tuesday, November 17, 2015 - Monthly Tuesday group #003: Mas de Daumas Gassac Vin de Pays de l'Hérault vertical of 16 vintages (by DJ): This is a completely different style compared to the older wines we had at this vertical. There are a lot of herbs and spices (garrigue) in the bouquet with e.g. thyme, beautiful oak, vanilla and some pleasant barnyard. The bouquet is just gorgeous. Only sniffing is almost enough. On the palate spices like clove, cinnamon, red berry fruits, chocolate, a bit of pleasant sweetness, beautifully soft acidity and round and soft, powdery tannin. A beautiful wine. In general; all the older vintages we tasted remind more or less to Bordeaux. This is more a Rhone style of wine, but different in a lovely way. For me this was the WOTN. Ready now and probably no problem keeping this until 2020.
