Friday, January 8, 2016 - Davyd's birthday at Hotel Michael. Pop and poured. Drank over 1.5 hours.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, purplish ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of black pepper, sweet spice, licorice, blackberries, blueberries. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), ripe puckery high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of black pepper, blackberries, black cherries, blueberries, licorice, sweet spice. Hints of tobacco and tar with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. This is pointing in the direction of Northern Rhone, but the fruit sweetness and intensity is unmistakably Aussie. An infant now, good potential for the future. Keep for another 3-4 years at least for more development.
