Friday, March 11, 2016 - Dark purple color. I expected the nose to provide more syrah character, but the nose was relatively simple with plums and dark cherry. The palate followed the nose with additional mineral and white pepper notes. The tannins are still hanging on in this medium-bodied wine, and the finish is moderately long. Overall, I did not get much varietal character, but it was an enjoyable red with solid red fruit. It was slightly overpowered by the split pea soup with ham.
