Slow O'd for two hours. A lovely and very approachable Syrah, but in comparison with the 2005 Pride Mountain Syrah that preceded it, it was noticeably less complex; its tertiary notes less developed. No complaints, though...

Dark purple color. I expected the nose to provide more syrah character, but the nose was relatively simple with plums and dark cherry. The palate followed the nose with additional mineral and white pepper notes. The tannins are still hanging on in this medium-bodied wine, and the finish is moderately long. Overall, I did not get much varietal character, but it was an enjoyable red with solid red fruit. It was slightly overpowered by the split pea soup with ham.

A beautiful mature wine. Dark fruits and a very long finish. Worth the wait. Wish I had more.

Very well-made wine, but on the austere side of the spectrum for my palate. Best with food.
