Sunday, May 22, 2016 - Medium ruby color with a touch of purple. Decanted for 2 hours. Jumps out of the glass with pure red fruit (sweet and sour red cherries, raspberries, also some small strawberries), but then there is also this minerality I associate with Corton (like graphite, also some steely notes), and plenty of spiciness that's also typical. As it opens up in the glass, lots of white pepper is showing up. It's medium-bodied but still has some punch, with pretty present (medium-high) acidity which is typical for the vintage) and medium+ tannin, that is a touch rough but still good. Good length. A super juicy, fresh but also elegant Corton Clos du Roi. I'm not sure if this will age very long but I would drink it over the next 6 - 8 years. It's already pretty now!
