Saturday, May 28, 2016 - For reasons known only unto them, the hotel had discarded the individual wooden case, the straw wrapper and, most unfortunately and maddeningly, the little booklet that comes with it which contains the wine's details. A blend of a number of vintages, but I do not know which; 100% Pinot Noir from Bouzy. From the state of the cork I could tell this was a very recent disgorgement and the indication 5 15 46 on the side of the cork seems to signify that this was Cuvée no. 46 disgorged in May 2015. Rich but lively full yellow colour; rich and deep nose, candied fruit, spices, flowers, almonds, fresh yet quite tertiary (mushroom, truffle) too; rich but quite austere palate consistent with long lees ageing, autolytic (flowers, acacia), fresh and energetic; long and layered finish. At The Old Parsonage Hotel, Oxford, UK.
