91 Points

Thursday, March 2, 2017 - Engel and Truchot dinner at Jade Palace. Flight 1 with the Serafin Gevrey 99, Engel Vosne 99, Engel Brulees 98. This was the unanimous vote for wine of the flight. A beautiful ruby red, alluring and seductive. A sexy nose of spice, roses, incense, lavender, roasted apples, beef broth, dried orange peel and black truffle. On the palate, perfectly matured red fruit along with good acidity and a perfect amount of elegance and seductiveness. There was the lovely dried orange peel and subtle sweetness that just made this wine so so alluring. The aromatics were amazing for a village, but this is Truchot, and this is an example of what a superb vigneron Jacky Truchot is. This would easily put some of the Grand Crus I have drunk to shame.
