Sunday, April 2, 2017 - Ex Magnum. On the nose the wine displays aromas of blackcurrants, a hint of vanilla oak and a touch of cedar. The wine is very soft on the palate, with its primary fruit still evident showing cassis, sweet fruits (plums), dark chocolate with vanilla oak supporting the whole wine. The palate is quite plump with a sweetness & ‘juiciness’ about it. The wine is now quite mature, for me the tannins are now fully resolved/dissolved and integrated into the wine. The finish is rather good. Consumed with lamb rump followed by a cheese board; perfect accompaniments for it in my view. In all for what is a sub $20 bottle of wine on release, it has aged and drinks very well.
Drink up any remaining bottles.
