Sunday, May 28, 2017 - Forgot to read my prior notes - should have decanted. Very tight for the first hour with dark fruits, tar and spice dominating a wine I would describe as dark and brooding. Very dense and highly extracted, it bordered on being cloying, but with a high acidity level that made it drinkable. Lots of licorice after about an hour but never really had much fruit. Long finish and a slightly chewy texture. Perhaps my least favorite Conn Valley Reserve of the past decade and very different from what other tasters described.
