Sunday, May 28, 2017 - With some coaxing, the 1999 Lafite gives off notes of black cherries, graphite, and roasted herbs. Medium-bodied, with good refinement and balance, the wine in nonetheless a bit difficult to pin down, as it seems a bit closed at the moment. Seems to have enough raw material to eventually emerge out of its shell, but is probably better left alone for a few more years. 92+.
