I'm not saying this is the greatest wine I've ever tasted, but it may be the most honest. Ripe cherries in the nose, lovely balance, maybe a bit fat from the ripeness of the '05 vintage, but the only element out of place is a streak of new oak that I believe will integrate with more time. This is what I think Chianti would taste like if the wine could make itself. I'm still searching for the '04 which should be even better if it's possible to find a bottle in New Jersey.
