Saturday, June 24, 2017 - Decanted in Vicenza at Il Ceppo. This opened beautifully with hot cherry cordials, oak, violets on the nose. The palate is monolithic black cherries, oak and soft tannins on the finish. This is super classy, silky, and a pure treat paired with thick spaghetti and duck sauce, followed by a course of seared tuna covered with sesame seeds and garnished with lingonberries. With an hour in the decanter the tannins softened and more graphitic earthy flavors emerged in the wine.
