Saturday, March 24, 2018 - 1/3, excellent cork.
Quite deep ruby/garnet core, medium garnet rim. Nose is a touch mute and although it does open up a bit it lacks the aromatic fireworks usually associated with Fourrier, showing dark fruit, attractive spicy notes - hint of furniture polish. Medium bodied on the palate with sophisticated, cool, dark (plum, black cherry) fruit, again an attractive spicy overlay, soil, extremely fine, now soft tannins, fresh acidity and a touch of savoury meat on the long finish. Generally not a fan on this vintage, I approached this with some trepidation, but is it lovely, beautifully fruited with exquisite balance - it exudes class. Drinking now but no need to hurry.
