Sunday, June 17, 2018 - Honey, apricot and a wide variety of expressive tropical notes on the nose. Close to full bodied (13.5% ABV) and quite rich, especially through the middle. Orange, pineapple and honey upfront, with additional honey, deep orange and a mix of tropical notes (especially pineapple) through the middle. Backside pulls in some golden apple, acidity/tannins and some hints of coconut and spices along with minerals on the finish. The fruit was beautiful and the concentration was certainly there. It just felt like this wine needed a little more acidity/structure to provide the contrast to the richer fruit notes and carry it to the next level. This is by no means a flabby, overly sweet/honeyed wine, just needed a bit more structure to get it to the next level. I'd probably hold onto these a bit longer as some additional time will certainly allow the balance to improve. Felt like there was a lot of depth through the middle that could still be expressed.
