Thursday, June 28, 2018 - Found this bottle at the back of my store and thought it might be over the hill. The wine was still a deep, opaque red with hardly a trace of brown at the rim. It was much better after half an hour. A good nose with fruit and spice. The palate was still quite fresh with lots of dark berry and black cherry fruit. Soft vanilla and spice from the oak added to the rich, mature but smooth character. It seemed to get better and longer on the palate with time. I am sure that most of this wine will have been drunk at least 4 or 5 years ago from the earlier notes but I think it is excellent now, given a little time to open. This bottle confirms my belief that good quality S. American wines can live and improve for longer than most people believe. I wish I had more.
