Tuesday, June 10, 2008 - Golden color with quite a bit of oak on the nose. The oak in this wine can be identified by the yeasty bread-like scents that easily dominate the pear aromas. Surprisingly, not a lot of that oak comes through on the palate, which takes on a slight bit of sweetness with the apple and citrus flavors taking command of your taste buds. The finish does round up some of the oak you picked up on the nose with a slightly creamy texture. Initially I thought that this would be too oaky to enjoy but since the oak doesn't completely overpower every aspect of the wine, it isn't too bad. Be careful what you match this wine with though as we had it with a spicy buffalo chicken caesar salad and the hot spicy buffalo style chicken totally made the wine seem flat and dull. Overall this wine is pretty good, but you can do better at this price point.
