subtle, very nice. everyone remarked on it. long finish, nice oak, not overpowering. a lot of chardonnay, though, very full bodied, but beautifully balanced.

Really nice. A little woody for my taste, but much more in balance than other Pride Chards I've had. Good acidity helped. I look forward to having my next (and last!) bottle at some point. No rush - it's drinking very well now, but my sense is it could easily go another year or two. The second half of the bottle was even better, believe it or not, after two days in the fridge - it seemed to tame the oak a bit, but the fruit was still full and the acids still bright.

Medium straw color with a light gold highlight...muted nose with a some layers of ripe tree fruit and just a hint of oak. No oak on the palate though...as this was all fruit with a medium grip, a light twang with just a hint of sweetness...that seemed to be the last hurrah...good timing as it was the last bottle.

Golden color with quite a bit of oak on the nose. The oak in this wine can be identified by the yeasty bread-like scents that easily dominate the pear aromas. Surprisingly, not a lot of that oak comes through on the palate, which takes on a slight bit of sweetness with the apple and citrus flavors taking command of your taste buds. The finish does round up some of the oak you picked up on the nose with a slightly creamy texture. Initially I thought that this would be too oaky to enjoy but since the oak doesn't completely overpower every aspect of the wine, it isn't too bad. Be careful what you match this wine with though as we had it with a spicy buffalo chicken caesar salad and the hot spicy buffalo style chicken totally made the wine seem flat and dull. Overall this wine is pretty good, but you can do better at this price point.

Medium gold color and a tart nose of citrus and green apple, a little oak and some minerality that I did not expect. Firm mouth feel and refreshing fruit that, for me, was well framed by an oakyness that was well integrated, and I am not a lover of oak in chard's...nicely balanced and well done.

Light yellow gold color. The nose of this wine had aromas of apple, pear and toasty oak. The palate reveated flavors of pear and apple with a little butter. Medium bodied wine with a very nice, creamy mouthfeel and a satisfying finish even though it was medium length. This wine reminded me of the 02 and 03 Cakebread Chardonnay Reserves without as much buttery flavors. This was a very enjoyable Chardonnay, but I cannot recall having any bottle of wine with Pride on the label that was less than remarkable.

Color light gold. Nose: oak, vanilla, buttered toast (the oak I'm sure), some golden del. apple. Really opens after a while. Palate: lemon, oak, nicely balanced to my surprise, a little too much oak for me, but all in all I like it. Drier than I expected, crisp in midpalate with an oaky finish. Not great, but darn good. I would buy again.

Served slightly too cold at first. As the glass warmed, aromas or pear, lemon zest and light toasted oak. Nice smooth mouthfeel with a solid backbone of acidity to emphasize the flavors of apricots, pears and lemon. A touch of oak rounds out the palate. Nice wine, although maybe on the lower end of the QPR scale, but nice nonetheless.

This wine is a medium golden, straw color. The nose is very accessible with scents of Gardenias, citrus and fig. The taste is big with flavors of fig, kiwi, pear, hazelnut and lemon tart.

($37) Napa-Noma, June 2006: Typical mineral-toasty oak nose. Concentrated pear and white fruit. Better than I remember the last couple Pride chards being.

I was pleasantly surprised by this. Goldon straw color, with notes of lemon curd, buttered popcorn, and yeasty bread dough. Good fruit, with zesty acidity and a dash of toasty oak.

Golden hued. Nose of pear, citrus/lemon and oak/vanilla. Good fruit on palate and has a nice, almost zippy, acidity. Pride seems to be dialing down the malo and, perhaps the oak to good effect.

Pale golden color. Pears and toasty oak aromas on the nose. Palate is well-balanced, with crisp, bright fruit, a little butter and oak, with a tanginess on the finish. Will improve a bit with another year or two. Much better for my taste than the 2003.

Solid effort from Pride. Flavor profile is California but with greater sophistication than most - buttery but not too much so. Creamy mouthfeel with a tad bit too much oak for my taste. The nose was citrus, lemongrass and hazelnut. I am thinking this would be better with another 6 months to a year to let the oak integrate a bit more.

Solid Cahrdonnay from Cal -- usually not much of a fan of Cal Chard's but this one was not overoaked nor to-buttery -- a little over priced.
