Saturday, October 6, 2018 - Taste Top Wines for Oct (San Diego Wine Co.): WAY too cold
Frt from their Medway, Willowflat, & Brackenfield Vyds (all Awatere Valley); 12.5% ABV, 3.9 g/l R.S., 7.20 g/l T.A., & 3.26 pH; 127,000 cs made
N: UNattractive, tough to parse: a melding of barnyard & grass? As the barnyd blows off, notes of grn olives?
P: Med, poss LM, body; Rndish entry with NICE, grn olive/bell pepper frt with notes of grn apples counterbalanced by a tart acidity which defines the wie into & through the LONG, tangy/swt (80:20) finish with GLIMPSES of a very, VERY slight bitterness. For now & through '20, + could improve a BIT. My VG/VG+, though one must be patient with the N *&* a LOVER of the GRASSY style. 89 pts WS, 86 WE @ $15, & a Bronze @ '18 Int'l Wine Challenge. [This vendor's $7.99 is at LEAST $1.40 < anyone else currently listed on wine-searcher!]
