Community Tasting Note

Saturday, December 15, 2018 - Taste Wines from the '18 "Wine Spectator's" Top 100 (San Diego Wine Co.): Generally, "from a balanced blend of Côte d'Or, Saône et Loire (Mercurey, Buxy), & Irancy. Fermented & aged partly in vats & partly in barrels for 9-12 mos before bottling." 35,000 cs imported

N: Creamy vanilla with notes of spice, cherries way underneath? Poss smoke?

P: LM body; Rndish entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by some tangy astringency which loses the majority of its force by the LONG, very, VERY slightly tangy finish with a bitter/swtness to the relatively few, very, VERY fine tannins. Approachable now, this DESERVES into, probably through '19, then drinking for 3 yrs more. 13% ABV; My VG+/EXC-, the higher if one prefers a firmer style @ this QPR. 90 pts WS & #68/Top 100 for '18 @ $19. [This vendor's $17.99 puts it in the top 1/3 of wine-searcher's entries.]
