2015 Louis Jadot Pinot Noir Bourgogne

Community Tasting Note

Does not like this wine:

56 Points

Friday, February 22, 2019 - Astringent and tannic without the fruit to offset. Decanted and waited an hour, no real change. But too light to drink with heartier meat dishes. Inexpensive but not worth the price. Much better light pinots out there.

I bought this blind because in general I skew to old world style and lower alcohol as I age, and I’d thought I’d try it. This Jadot was light as expected but hard to consume. Too tannic to enjoy without food, too tannic for lighter foods like grilled salmon, too light for heavier meats. Not enough fruit to age. Probably ok with a creamy cheese now that I think about it. I enjoy many pinots and did not compare this wine to higher priced bottle which would be unfair. But even at this price point ($15) there are easy quaffers out there. This wasn’t one of them. In my opinion only of course.
