Thursday, May 9, 2019 - An absolute beauty from Russell Bevan that won out at another fantastic wine dinner with the FM group.
Decanted for 3 hours. Opens up big and complex, with a nose of dark fruit, spice, and pencil lead. Still dark and brooding, it is an incredible mouthful of blackberry, dark current, cassis, espresso and black licorice. Stays complex yet voluptuous. Tannins were perfect.
It won handily in a blind tasting over a 2006 San Leonardo, 2008 Beau Vigne reserve, 2005 Continuum, and a 2010 Lokoya Howell Mountain.
