Tuesday, June 18, 2019 - Very dark for a Pinot and ripe for a Burgundy, you can really tell it was a hot year. Warm blackcurrant, plum, chocolate, almost Bordeaux-like scents, some lightly pruney notes from the slight aging, nicely integrated oaky nutmeg. Delicious, lightly minerally, although maybe a touch more acidity would work; it's still present, with a great savory tinge of cured meat on the finish, but is beginning to slowly fade. Mine could have seen better storage, but we loved it- a rich, truly delicious and still refreshing red burg. I feel lucky to have found it for around $40. Wouldn't be as happy with it for the going price today, but maybe the quality has risen in more recent vintages!
