Wednesday, August 28, 2019 - Gaspar's Plavka (Plavina) is indigenous grape variety from central Dalmatia in Croatia. The vineyard is located in Vrgorac area in a picturesque village of Umčani distant only 6 km from the beautiful Adriatic coastline. The vineyard was planted in 1952. Organic approach is used, green harvest is common and the grapes are hand harvested.

The wine is deeply-inky coloured with oily legs, 14,5 % abv. and pH of 3,25. Concentrated with plush ripe black cherries, plums and figs. There's some bacon fat followed by the kick of wild flowers and liquorice. The palate is vibrant with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) body and medium (+) flavour intensity. The tannins are medium with a velvet texture. Nicely integrated oak with some cloves and chocolate notes. The finish is medium.

Well balanced and juicy. Very good wine. Will improve with additional ageing. Drink from 2021. cca 2000 bottles made. 91+
