Thursday, September 26, 2019 - Dinner with Sasi (Yan, National Gallery, Singapore): This was really quite nice - a perfectly rounded, nature Burgundy. Nothing out-of-this-world, just really enjoyable old school stuff. The nose had a nicely mature character to it, with wafts of cream, earth and honeyed yellow fruit, with a little kiss of sweet stewed pears at the sides. The palate was round and fleshy, with ripe notes of fragrant Chinese pears and a bit of honey, all laced with a bit of chalky mineral and traced with a nice bit of lemon rind acidity. Tons of weight and girth on this, but the fresh acidity kept it in check. There was just a hint of oxidation starting to creep in, but this was otherwise very enjoyable.
