Monday, December 30, 2019 - Popped and poured from split. This is an ambered-gold wine. On the nose, I get honey, orange peel, old apples, and butter melting on hot toast. In the mouth, this is smooth with some caramelized oxidization, a touch of vanilla, and some slight spice – the overall impression is soft and light-footed. The finish amps up with lingering marshmallow and orange pulp notes. Overall, this is showing its age but also its breed, which is a very nice combo. Yet at the same time, this is subtle and not as heavy as some other Sauternes I’ve had recently. It’s a winner. 92 points.
