93 Points

Sunday, June 21, 2020 - Coravin. AP#1. Lemon color; high intensity aromatics with apricot, pear, melon, fresh minerals, and interestingly savory with slight mint; palate is medium bodied, sweet but balanced by medium-plus acidity (which gives the wine lift) and a strong sense of savory minerality, primary fruit mostly subtle melon and slight peach, persists somewhat through the midpalate but not as intense as on the nose; finish is medium length. I've been tasting my way through Merkelbach's lineup from Kabinett on up, and this seems like a sweet spot (pun intended) for my palate. The vibrancy and aromatics on this are next level, and the palate is good but not quite as deep or long as the nose. 93+
