  • Dinner at Langbaan (Langbaan, Portland OR): The nose is succulent and balanced with richer tones of peaches, nectarines, apricots, yellow flowers, red apples, honeydew, some petrol notes, and mineral tones. The Light bodied feel is deft and balanced with tart, high acidity. The acidity has some nice cut and mouthwatering qualities while there is also good texture to the feel. This could well use more time to fully round into form as it shows off good complexity but it doesn't feel like it's in full harmony just yet.

  • Coravin. AP#1. Lemon color; high intensity aromatics with apricot, pear, melon, fresh minerals, and interestingly savory with slight mint; palate is medium bodied, sweet but balanced by medium-plus acidity (which gives the wine lift) and a strong sense of savory minerality, primary fruit mostly subtle melon and slight peach, persists somewhat through the midpalate but not as intense as on the nose; finish is medium length. I've been tasting my way through Merkelbach's lineup from Kabinett on up, and this seems like a sweet spot (pun intended) for my palate. The vibrancy and aromatics on this are next level, and the palate is good but not quite as deep or long as the nose. 93+
