Saturday, August 29, 2020 - Well my good friend Michael and his wife came over for dinner and since he is the one that got me into collecting wine and it was also my daughters birthday I decided to open some nice Cabernets to go with the rotisserie ducks that we were having for dinner. So i opened a 2012 Backus, a half bottle of the 2015 and a bottle of the 2012 Hillside Select.
This bottle was opened and decanted an hour before drinking. While we were sitting on the patio talking and drinking the Backus I realized that our rate of consumption was moving along so I decanted this half bottle.
The nose is all fruit. The palate is blueberry, dark cherry, hints of tobacco and pecans which came out on the long smooth finish.
I think this bottle of wine was my personal favorite. 94+.
