Tuesday, February 25, 2020 - A peek into some 2000 Bordeaux (Margeaux Brasserie, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is open and well balanced with red cherries, cranberries, currants, spice box notes, roses, cedar, tobacco, and leather tones. There is good depth but this lacks somewhat in complexity.

Taste: The feel is medium bodied with medium acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. There is a little stiffness to the tannins but otherwise, the structure has effectively resolved. The feel is well balanced with red cherries, cranberries, currants, spice box notes, tobacco, cedar, and leather tones.

Overall: This is right in its zone. There is a real sour red fruit quality that is showing well while the secondary and tertiary notes have harmonized beautifully. It does lack some depth and complexity but on the whole this is a lovely bordeaux that is right at its maturity level for a long time.
