93 Points

Saturday, February 20, 2021 - Decanted roughly 1 hour and consumed over the following 3 hours. Moderately deep garnet-red with significant fading at the rim. It looked more like a well-aged Burgundy at 20 years than a CdP. On the nose the wine, for me, was a complete surprise. It's elegant, ripe, rich, and subtle, again more like something I'd expect from a top Premier Cru Burgundy, though the aromas are very CdP with garrique, iron, warm-weather herbs, blood, and beautiful deep red fruit. On the palate the elegance continues, along with a deep, almost silky palate impression. Despite the lighter color than I expected for a CdP the fruit is deep and so nicely balanced with silky tannin and savory acidity. The finish is a tad short but that's only a slight ding to what is otherwise a beautifully mature wine.
