2019 Paetra Riesling

Community Tasting Note

Does not like this wine:

Tuesday, April 13, 2021 - BD 12 purchase. Not as good as other wines from the same producer (both the dry Riesling and the Pinot Blanc, which I’ve found to be outstanding). This either needs more time or should’ve used more decanting, even though I tried this over two days. It just tasted a lot like apple juice. The acidity was too imbalanced. Too bad, because the nose on this thing is amazing.

4/13/2021 4:59:00 PM - I had the same experience, though I came back to it on day 3 and found it much improved. I also bought on BD12 and thought the dry Riesling (which I tried after this) showed much better upon opening. Haven't tried the Pinot Blanc yet but looking forward to it. If you have another bottle of this one, give it more time -- I thought it transformed from the apple juice you described to something really enjoyable.

4/14/2021 8:34:00 PM - Is this the spider label?

4/15/2021 5:35:00 AM - No, the other one. The spider label is actually the Dry Riesling. I do think there is a little bit of confusion with the notes on CT between the two bottlings, and indeed both listings have the spider label image.

4/15/2021 4:43:00 PM - Now I'm confused. I thought this one was the spider label and the Dry Riesling is the other one. The Dry Riesling says Yamhill-Carlton on the label (and in Cellartracker) but the spider label does not, which would make sense since it contains grapes from 3 AVA's (Eola-Amity Hills, Yamhill-Carlton, and the Van Duzer Corridor). CT is confusing because the spider label is pictured for both, but the second picture for the Dry Riesling is what I was thinking of for the Dry.

4/15/2021 5:09:00 PM - I just checked. the spider label says "dry" in the description, while the other one says "off-dry". So this CT entry should correspond to the non-spider label.
