Friday, May 14, 2021 - Opened an hour in advance. Deep ruby, perfect clarity. Beautiful aromatics of red fruit, pomegranate, ground coffee, and violet. Medium weight, substantial for Volnay but neither too heavy nor too ripe. Tart cherry, real bitter chocolate richness, earthy base, and a finish which is both quite saline and moderately tannic. Well above class for village Volnay. Very enjoyable now but this will age slowly and well.
