Saturday, July 3, 2021 - My first experience with the 2017. I went through quite a bit of the 2016, but wanted to see how this vintage compared.

Right off the bat, this seems to be very much in the same profile as the 2016, but maybe a bit less rambunctious. Whereas the 2016 came across as a big, round and viscous “super SauvBlanc”, this has all the qualities that made the 2016 great but more balanced. Extremely tropical on both the nose and palate. White peach, guava, key lime cake and some grapefruit. Definitely pick up the use of oak on the nose as it has that distinct character. The palate is big but not flabby. The oak use has this very rounded but with a good spine of acidity. Sea salted key lime pie, honeysuckle, and quite a bit of limestone on the finish. Enjoy now.
