Sunday, July 18, 2021 - Decanted 3 hrs. I know I know, you can’t open a Lorenzo for 30 years from the vintage date (loved the podcast on this vineyard) but this 19 version to me, says otherwise. Yes, I almost choked on the first sip, so full of power and muscle, perhaps a tad premature to have been opened. Thankfully, I just needed some food in the pie hole, and voila! an amazing young Lorenzo is in the house. Gorgeous dark plums wrapped some high quality cigar tobacco – spicy, rich, savory, sweet…. All the boxes are checked here. Yes, some pretty big tannins are there but there is enough front end material to make this all work in harmony. If you bought the 19 Lorenzo, you are in for a major treat.
