Saturday, December 27, 2008 - This is 100% Chardonnay. A lighter color somewhat like the weak sunlight of a winter day that doesn’t invite the eye as much as asking it to linger. The mousse has a moderate weight but loads of activity with uniform bubbles and a continues column for as long as there is wine being poured. Lemon zest and tropical notes with a tinge of yeastiness. Crisp with as much apple as lemon zest coming through on the palate along with the tropical aspects and yeast. Somewhat austere and lean compared to the Hagafen, but not Spartan or stripped out at all. A clean wine, well made. With oyster turn overs and an oyster casserole. With the Scripps. Recommended. (First part of notes are taken from Thanksgiving notes.)
