Monday, December 13, 2021 - First bottle from this (mixed-two bottles of Old Vine snuck in) case. Ruby color, but cloudy. Just the hint of clear meniscus. Red fruit - maybe pomegranate with a touch of spice. Good acidity keeping things fresh. Medium-long finish. Not a good as the 2014 Withers (Sonoma Coast) English Hill from last night—although it’s sacrilege to say it. This one paired with cold leg of roast pheasant; not bad, but not inspired pairing, reminding me that this was slightly less savory than the Withers: a touch more ripe fruit character, well controlled by the acidity.
