Thursday, March 26, 2015 - 70% Grenache noir; 15% Carignan, 10% Mourvedre; 5% CSauv. Mid+ blood red to ruby edge - notably yyouthful colour for a 10-year-old wine.
A classic bouquet of Southern France with garrgiue, blood orange, red cherries, chocolate orange and some pepper. Quite a tight entry, fresh with minerals, cranberry, white pepper and more cherry skins chewiness. There is a salty note and underneath a touch of richness that broadens out the mid-palate. A good though straightforward wine with a brightness to the fruit that isn't obviously Grenache - I served it slightly chilled on a warm-ish evening along with the white version.
