Terroir-istes International - France, Mediterranean Coast (Groot Constantia): (Tasted Blind): Deep-red black wine. Initial reduction and then intense nose showing garrigue, dried herbs, and notes of fenugreek alongside red cherries and soft damsons. A ripe entry with a fleshy core of fruit, savoury edges and a warming alcohol presence. Well-balanced, the mid-palate is gravelly in texture with minerals, lots of savoury notes and spicy. As the wine finishes, the tannins are firmer and grippy, building but still kept at bay by the fleshier fruits. Persistent and svelte! 13.5% Alc. 70 Grenache Noir, 15 Carignan, 10 Mourvèdre 5 CS. Steep slopes on schist and slate.

70% Grenache noir; 15% Carignan, 10% Mourvedre; 5% CSauv. Mid+ blood red to ruby edge - notably yyouthful colour for a 10-year-old wine. A classic bouquet of Southern France with garrgiue, blood orange, red cherries, chocolate orange and some pepper. Quite a tight entry, fresh with minerals, cranberry, white pepper and more cherry skins chewiness. There is a salty note and underneath a touch of richness that broadens out the mid-palate. A good though straightforward wine with a brightness to the fruit that isn't obviously Grenache - I served it slightly chilled on a warm-ish evening along with the white version.
